Improving the website - FEEDBACK please
« on: November 10, 2004, 07:17:14 PM »
Please provide you thoughts here.

How can I improve the main website to make it a useful resource for the PUA community?

How can it be improved for complete newbies?

Thanks for taking the time to think and post about this.

If there were actually some articles on there, that'd be helpful.  But not many people on this website are qualified to write authoratative posts on the Venusian Arts yet, so I'm not sure about that.

A "if you are new, read this" section would be helpful.  But that'd be a lot of work so I don't know if it's worth it.

I agree with you, and want to gradually bring in good articles form different guys in the community.

This is exactly what I am working on right now, but it is a lot of work, and with other projects it's not a top priority.

If anyone wants to help put this together that would be fantastic.

How about a quick reference encyclopedia with all the relevant PUA acronyms (LMR, DHV, etc. etc.)?

oh shit, I know what we need!

NEW SMILIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously.  badboylifestyle.com's forum is a good example of awesome smilies and how they make the forum better.  Like the "bow'ing down smilie," the "clapping smilie" and stuff like that.

I think what we need is an actual Field Reports thing, that way we know where to look instead of checking EVERY post that has to do with going out to see if it is actually a report or just an SP or something.

I was just thinking that the other day actually.  I'd like a field reports section as well.

Here's a suggestion, since you've asked.

Define SPAM.

A detailed definition, posted in this section, will prevent new folks like myself from going away in frustration.

Unless there's another agenda altogether (IE - Our stuff: Not SPAM. Everyone else's stuff: SPAM)

All I've seen on the topic of SPAM is some random thread about p*oker g*ame sites. If you have rules, post them prominently. Like they do on Fast Seduction.

Thanks!

Spam is like porn..when you see it you'll know it!

This is a non profit free advice forum..so I dont expect J-dog to get with his lawyers and come up with terms of service.

If you want rules..then there's only one rule on this website,J-dog does as he pleases since he runs this website. And so far it worked pretty well ( except that time with miscommunication with Mojo.)

Great. Thanks for clarifying.

Like I surmised - His stuff: Not SPAM. Everyone else's: SPAM.

In that case, mr J-Dog should call this the JDog site, not an AZPUA that implies collaboration and sharing of information/resources between members who live in AZ.

PS - let's be a little more clear on terms. Just because there aren't dues, doesn't mean this is a 'non-profit' site. That is unless he donates all the proceeds from the affiliate sales of Mystery Method merchandise to charities.

I think what is kind of meant by "spam" refers to people who simply use the forum to advertise their products, but contribute nothing beyond that, and have no history of contributing anything elsewhere (I am assuming you don't have some sort of reputation like Mystery on other forums?).

That's pretty much been the case with you. Your posts have consisted of advertising your wares and complaining about not being able to do so via the guise of a complaint about an unclear "spam" policy. Perhaps that was not your intention.

And perhaps you are correct in that there should be a more clear spam policy for people to look at that are newcomers.

Why don't we let bygones be bygones and start over. Post some field reports/lay reports, and/or some of your techniques. We are always interested to hear something new.

Fair Enough.

Would be happy to (provide specifics, field reports)

As long as JDog doesnt delete them again (he deleted a prior thread that included specific material I posted.)

You can find my insights and other reports on some related sites (Fast Seduction, PUA Yahoo Discussion Groups)

Nuff said. This thread was intended to offer suggestions to improve the site. I simply asked for clarification (and consistency) around the whole SPAM thing.

I didn't see it. I only saw you pitching your product.

No thanks. I've seen nothing compelling enough from you to make me want to search for you on the internet.

If you had hung around here and got to know the site and the users on it, you wouldn't have needed clarification.

I noticed that if I post a picture in the Gallery, I can't seem to find out how to take it down.

I would post pics in the gallery, but don't for security and once they are up, they stay.

Since asked,

So far I like the site the way it is.  I did receive one email from a non confirmed member.  I don't like mandatory registration.  Plus hosers will simply register to spam us and get creepy anyway.  How about a little badge for confirmed members that shows in e-mails/private messages.  That way we don't have to check if the email we got for winging/sarging/good places to go is from some bot or dude that's being weird.

I like everything else so far.  Will let you know if anything else comes to mind but It makes it easier for me to reply to any mail knowing that the sender is confirmed without me having to check new member posts and confirmed members lists before replying.  Just a little Icon for groups attached to email maybe.

Thanx and just my $0.02.

Vellers.
